Ostrog Monastery is located on the thirty-eighth kilometer from Podgorica on the mountain Ostroška beams. From the town of Niksic is 30 minutes. With a vertical rock under which the monastery offers a beautiful view of the plain Bjelopavlici and the valley of the Zeta River. It is dedicated to St. Vasilije of Ostrog, one of our greatest saints who by and founded in the 17th century. He was buried there and proclaimed a saint after his death. Church of the Holy Cross is located in the upper level of the monastery and its frescoes are adapted to the rocks on which they were painted by icon painters. Around the church are quarters and together form the monastery is so fused with the environment. Monastery Ostrog is among the most visited monasteries in the Balkans and beyond. It is visited by believers of all religions from all over the world.
Taxi from Podgorica Airport to the Monastery Ostrog is a journey of one hour through the valley of the Zeta River. In summer and during the great saints posecenost is huge. Tourists returning from necessarily stop by to visit the miraculous monastery. In the vicinity of the monastery of Ostrog was located the ancient city that served as a border fortress until it was destroyed by the Turks.
